About jessicatarkington

Hello, my name is Jessica and I am a working mother of 2. My eldest child is Joseph who is 9 and my baby is Daisy who is 4.  I am having a hard time paying my bills. I do not know where to turn. I work at a local retail store where I am only make minimum wage and my boss will not give me more than 17 hours a week. That is not enough to take care of my bills and kids too. I have contacted my local social services and they are all out of funding for light and water bills. My water bill is already a month behind and is going to be shut off this month if I can not pay atleast the past due amount.I do have a job I am not the type of person who does nothing and is looking for a hand out, I am just a mother doing my very best to make it in this tough world. I am so lucky that I have a good person to watch my kids while I work and does not charge me for it, and I am also lucky to have a car that is reliable and is paid off. 4 years ago I was in a bad car wreck and I broke my neck, after that I tried and tried to get disability but I was denied over and over again. I gave up and got a job even though I still live with a cronic pain disorder I get up and I am ALWAYS at work on time and I NEVER miss a day that I am supposed to be there. I can not afford to stay home even on my worst days. I am looking for somebody who is willing and most importantly able to help me. I am praying that God blesses me with this. I have alot of faith in him to provide for me and my kids. God knows I do my very best so I believe he will answer my prayers. My water bill can be paid over the phone, our town does not have pay online as an option yet. The number is 919-580-4340 and my account number is 44263-442000. Please help me and my kids to keep our water on. God Bless you all who help others who truly need to be helped. Thank You!!!

Attn: Working Moms - Scholarships and info available!

I saw an article in the newspaper saying that there are scholarships available for working moms to study online.  Although some of the deadlines are past, there are lots of links to more info on aid available to low-income and single parents.  Go to http://www.elearners.com/projectworkingmom/ to learn more!

Best wishes,

About employed-student-mom

I am a full time mother who has a great job and goes to school part-time. I recently completed my Bachelor Degree in Psychology. I really want to help people however the pay is horrible. I cant find a public service job that pays. I am in the process of paying student loans, my home, electric, gas, water, food and just do not have the resources to do what I love. I really want to be a social worker or life-coach. I would love to go back to college and get a masters degree but it is financially unlikely.

I am a great mother and would love to spend more time with my son (6 months). Why is it so complicated for hard working people to get assistance from the government or other private entities. It seems like unless you are completly non-working you do not quality for assistance.

I hate to say it but financial assistance would benefit me more if I didn't work at all. It's sad! I could stay home with my son and rake in money. If I had no morals or goals - I would honestly consider it. There are so many people who take advantage of the system and sometimes I wonder why I am working so hard. Why does economy work this way................

just a little hand

Hi.  My name is Theresa.  Last spring I lost my full time job.  I was in despair, but soon after my niece had her terminally ill son taken from her by Children's Services.  I was always taught that everything hsppens for a reason and figured the reason that I lost my job was so that I would be available to take custody of my great-nephew, even though I am already a widowed mother of two girls.  Things were going fine and we were managing to scrape by on a shoestring budget and lots of love.  Skyler (my sick nephew) required round the clock medical attention and lots of hospital stays, so working at the time wasn't really an option.  Some how by the grace of God and support from family and friends we managed.  Unfortunately, my land lord decided to sell our home and we were left with no place to go.  My parents, being the angels that they are, moved from their home into my sister's and allowed the three children and me to move into their house.  I have since aquired home nursing care for my nephew so that I could go back to work, but I had to take a job that pays much less than my previous job.  I am trying to go back to school to become a respiratory therapist, but right now finances just don't allow that.  Any help anyone would be willing to give would be greatly appreciated.  Sometimes I feel like I screwed up all of our lives just by trying to do the right thing.

I am just trying to raise two of my own daughters and help out my terminally ill great-nephew and my niece at the same time.  I took custody of Skyler last year when he was taken from my niece by the local CYS.  Skyler suffers from SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) Type 1.  He truely is one of God's sweetest angels.  We are so grateful for every day that we have with him.  He just celebrated his second birthday in June, which is a small miracle in itself since most SMA babies don't live to be one.  My niece has worked so hard to get her life back on track and be a good mother for Skyler, but needed a little more help, so I also moved her in with me.  I do work full time and would love to go back to school to become a respiratory therapist which would benefit Skyler as well as myself and my daughters.  Just trying to find the funds is very difficult.  I iwould like to cut back to part time work so that I could go back to school and have time to spend with the kids (because they are my life), but there is no way we could get by on a part time income.  I guess I'm just looking for a litle advice and a lot of prayers.

Need money to go back to college

HI.  My name is Allison Goodin and I am in the pursuit of finging money to go back to college.  I completed one semester at Berea College in Berea, Ky in 1997.   I am now married with 4 small children and I realize that I need a better education to provide for them.  Currently, my husband is enrolled at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Ky, majoring in pastoral ministries.  Is there help out there for a working mom who needs money to go the nursing school?
